He first played for Basel, then for various other clubs in Switzerland, France and Germany before returning to his home club, where he won his first Championship title. Frei was the captain of theSwiss national team and is all-time leading scorer of the Swiss national football team with 42 goals in 84 games. He is of no relation to club and country team mateFabian Frei. However, he is the second-cousin of Toronto FC keeper and former Swiss youth international Stefan Frei. He's married to Nina and on 26 June 2012 they welcomed a daughter named Lia.
Frei represented Switzerland at Under-18s, Under-19s and Under-21s levels. He played his Swiss U-18s debut on 25 October 1995 in the 5-1 away defeat against the French Under-18s. His Under-21s debut was on 3 Speptember 1999 in the 3-1 away win against the Danisch U-21 team.
Frei played his debut as full international on 24 March 2001, being substituted in, during the 1-1 away draw against the Republic of Yugoslavia during the World Cup qualification Group 1 match.[9] In the following match, just four days later, Frei scored his first three goals for the National team in the 5-0 home win against Luxembourg.
Frei played for Switzerland at Euro 2004 and at the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. He scored two goals in the 2006 World Cup, one in the match against Togo and a controversial goal against South Korea. Frei had 84 caps for Switzerland.
Frei is also Switzerland's all time top scorer with 42 goals. During Euro 2004, in a group match against England, Frei was caught on camera appearing to spit at Steven Gerrard. Although no action was taken at the time, Frei was later charged and given a provisional 15 day suspension by UEFA.
Within the first half of the opening match of UEFA Euro 2008, Frei was injured while captaining the Swiss team and missed the rest of the tournament due to a torn knee ligament in his left knee after a challenge from Czech defender Zden?k Grygera. He decided to remain with the team to show his support. He later underwent surgery.
In a Euro 2012 qualifier at home against Wales he was booed by his own fans throughout the match, even though Switzerland won the match 4–1. When he was finally substituted the fans in the home sector booed him repeatedly. On 5 April 2011, he decided to quit from the national squad after being criticized again following a 0–0 draw with Bulgaria on 26 March for the Euro 2012 qualifying match.

Per Tomas Brolin (born 29 November 1969 in Hudiksvall) is a Swedish former professional football player who had a successful period with A.C. Parma during the early nineties winning the 1992 Coppa Italia, the 1993 Cup Winners' Cup, the 1993UEFA Super Cup and the 1995 UEFA Cup.
Brolin also played for the Swedish national team, finishing third in the 1994 World Cup and was also a beaten semi finalist at the 1992 European championship as well as having competed in the 1990 World Cup.
Although a class act in his youth,in 2007 he was voted in at Number 2 in The Times poll of the "50 Worst footballers (to grace the Premier League)", reflecting his dismal downturn in form after he signed for the English club Leeds United in 1995.
His once glittering career never recovered after the transfer to Leeds United, and by the age of 29 he had retired from playing
6 November 1994, at the R?sunda Stadion in Stockholm, Brolin broke his foot in a qualifier for the European Championship. On 7 May 1995, a week after he had returned from injury, Brolin played for Sweden against Iceland, and scored a penalty but was unable to help his team to a much needed victory in their qualifying campaign.
On 16 April 1996, Brolin was then dropped by Swedish coach Tommy Svensson for a friendly against Northern Ireland in Belfast, and was quoted "Brolin is not at 100 percent at the moment and it is difficult to say when he will be." Brolin told Swedish news agency TT that it was the best for him, and the national side "Right now I need to recover in order to get to the capacity needed to add something to the national team."
In the end, Sweden did not qualify for 1996 European Championship. Brolin never played for his country again, but in the last five years had managed been selected 47 times at senior level and scored an impressive 26 goals.
In 47 games for Sweden, Brolin scored 26 goals. However in February 2010, Brolin claimed credit for a goal against Norway, given to international teammate Roland Nilsson and that his record should read 27 goals.

Gunnar Nordahl (October 19, 1921 – September 15, 1995) was a Swedish footballplayer, best known for his play in AC Milan 1949-1956, where he won two Scudetto's and an unprecedented five top scorer (Capocannonieri) awards, more than any other player in the history of the Serie A. He's generally considered one of the greatest Swedish football players of all-time.
Nordahl started out at H?rnefors IF in Sweden before moving to IFK Norrk?ping. He won four Swedish championships with Norrk?ping and once scored seven goals in one game. During his time in Swedish clubs, Nordahl scored 149 goals in 172 matches.
Nordahl was first called-up to the Swedish national team in 1945. In 1948, he helped Sweden to win the Olympic football tournament, becoming the tournament's top scorer on the way. Nordahl's transfer to Milan forced him to retire from the national team, as the rules at the time prevented professionals from the Swedish national team, being not called to 1950 FIFA World Cup along his fellows Gren and Liedholm. In his 30 matches in the national team, he scored a total of 44 goals, or about 1.5 goals per game.
He won the Olympics along with his brothers Bertil and Knut Nordahl. Bertil also transferred to Italy after the Games (to Atalanta B.C.) and, due to this, was also not called to the World Cup. Knut stayed at Sweden and was called to the World Cup. After the tournament, he finally went to Italy, bought by AS Roma.
Thomas Nordahl, who is Gunnar's son, was a member of Sweden's 1970 FIFA World Cup squad.

Anders Frisk (born 18 February 1963) is an insurance agent by trade and a former football referee. Frisk chose to go into early retirement from refereeing due to pressure from death threats made against him and his family. These death threats were made by Chelsea fans because Frisk sent off Didier Drogba in the first leg of the UEFA Champions Leagueagainst FC Barcelona. He is fluent in several languages including his native Swedish,English and German
On 12 March Frisk announced his immediate retirement, citing threats made to his family. Two weeks previously, he had been severely criticised by Chelsea fans, players and management following his handling of a UEFA Champions League tie betweenBarcelona and Chelsea, during which he sent off Chelsea's Didier Drogba for receiving two cautions. Chelsea's then manager, José Mourinho, publicly accused Frisk of having invited the Barça manager, Frank Rijkaard, into his room at half-time, an act that is against UEFA regulations.
UEFA charged Chelsea with inappropriate conduct following the match. Mourinho received a touchline ban for both legs of Chelsea's quarter-final against Bayern Munich for the suggestion that Rijkaard had entered the officials' dressing room. It was revealed on 7 April that the UEFA venue director, Pascal Fratellia, had observed Rijkaard say hello in the tunnel and then attempt to converse with Frisk about the match on the way to the officials' room. Allegedly Frisk told him that "This is not the place or the moment to talk about the match" and left Rijkaard outside the room.
On 19 December, Frisk was awarded FIFA's Presidential Award as "recognition for a career cut short following death threats against his family". He presided over 118 international games during his 18 year career.

He appeared in the 1981 film Escape to Victory as Paul Wolcheck. In the same year, he emigrated to the USA, where he signed with the San Diego Sockers of the North American Soccer League in January 1981. During the next seven years, he played four NASL outdoor seasons, one NASL indoor season and five Major Indoor Soccer League seasons with the Sockers, winning five championships.
